End of Season Awards – PLEASE COMMENT IF YOU CAN MAKE IT
May 29, 2007, 11:36 pm

Guys,

It looks as though June 8th is being pegged as the night for end of season awards. So…….I need your votes. Please send me an email with the following voting

Most Valuable Player - The person who represents the most value on and off the pitch. We’ll be having 1 for the Reserves and 1 the Reds, so vote for both if you see fit. I’ll be weighting players who play in same team for 07′ higher, but vote for both and let me sort it out.

Heart of the Team – The person who works and supports the team, no matter what. Once again, vote for both if you see fit.

Golden Boot - Golden boots for both teams and an overall proze for squad leader. As there is only 1 game left before June 8th this may or not be decided.

Best New Comer – The best of the freshmans. A highly contested award this year with the following players in the running: Nikle, Illije, Brendan, Moppy, Cairan, Ben, Rob C, Gonzo, Christian. 1 and/or 2 depending on voting.

Email: Reds07Awards@cprfc.com

An extra $10 will be donated so we don’t give out some crummy laminated awards, and award winners with some good trophy bling!

Hope you can all make the night please tell me if you can make it in comment as numbers will determine a change of venue.

Mixed results against Japan

Japan FC 0 – 6 CPR Reds Reserves

Japan were completely outclassed in this one-sided affair. We played well and easily saw off any threats. The highlights of the game was 1st ever hatrick from Bola and a Messiesque individual goal from Christian.

Goals: Bola 3, Hakan 2, Christian
MOTM: Bola & Christian
Asssists: Le Matt, Ugo, Ben
Team – Becker, Nat, Eduardo, Ferd, Steve T, Ugo, Le Matt, Ben, Bola, Ernesto, Hakan, Christian

Japan FC 4 – 1 CPR Reds

We suffered from a lack of chances, a strong opposition and a lack of subs and options. The pre-kick-off withdrawal of Rich (hammy), Christian and LeMatt didn’t help but we never came to terms with the speed and movement of Japan. We were caught flat at the back too many times and failed to deal with their effective back-line led by their star Number 3. If only a pen decision went our way at 2-1 it could’ve been different as if we had more options for kick-off and subs.

Goal: Serbian assasin
MOTM: n/a
Team: Big T, Scott, Mark, Ben, Willie, Rob, Nikle, Morse, Cairan, Illije, Hakan, Ernesto

‘Bananas’tul 2 – 3 CPR Reds
May 14, 2007, 1:25 pm

The best way to describe this game against Bananas is to tell the story in Stats.

3 goals – He’s is now leading the Reds golden Boot, and 1 behind Enticotts squad lead! (I’m naming my next kid after the winner!)

2 Red cards – including bananas captain

1 assault on the Ref – A kick in the shins delivered by said bananas captain

1 death threat – “fine, send me off, but I’m following you home and killing your family” (actual quote taken from the refs report on the game)

3 shots that hit the crossbar/post, 2 penalty worthy tackles (Gonzo), 1 deliberate handball in the box (Gonzo), 1 deliberate handball outside the box (Bananas keeper)

70 Minutes – a shorten 1st half and an abbreviated 2nd half when ref stopped game.

I’ve spoken to the league today and we’ve got the 3 points that takes us off the bottom of the league. It looks as though Bananas FC have taken a big step towards being kicked out of Division 2 and he Romanian Veterans get sent to pasture. A great showing back at CPR HQ where celebrations continued. Sashimi anyone?

MOTM: The Serbian Assassin & Rob C

Honorable mentions: Tokes

Goals: The Serbian Assassin

Romanian 0ver 50’s 1 – 6 CPR Red Reserves
May 14, 2007, 10:39 am
Filed under: Match Reports, Red Reserves

Opponents: Banatul May 13th – Met Oval, 1pm
Score: Win 1 – 6

In what will be remembered as the game against Dads Army, the reserves continued their march towards a possible league challenge. The mighty Banatul had fielded their strongest 11 (average age of 67) and all looked good as the ’silver foxes’ took to the pitch. Their team included their Romanian captain who made his debut for his country in the 1st World Cup (1930) in Uruguay. Gheorghe Hagi’s dad and family made this game a little bizarre, to put it mildly, as the 2nd half descended into farce when Ilie Dumitrescu’s grandfather asked for time-out on the far corner. Highlights included a sensational 88 yard goal from Sewards, the ghost ‘keeper’ call, a referee in the stands, Scott ‘Ronaldo’s old uncle’ Brindly running up and down the right wing and a hatrick from Rich (now leading the golden boot race). Six goals in total and no opposition casualties recorded. Bring on Japan.

MOTM: Rich

Honorable mentions: Ben, Scott

Goals: Sewards, Rich x3, Jan, Ugo
Assists: Sewards, Brendan, Ugo, Scott

Team: Becker, Sewards, Steve R, Scott, Ugo, Charlie, Ernesto, Brendan, Nat, Ben, Eduardo, Jan, Rich
