Please try and make it tonight for training @8:30pm. As I can’t walk, knee needs rest, I won’t be coming, so please have a good one! Cheers, Paul
The best way to describe this game against Bananas is to tell the story in Stats.
3 goals – He’s is now leading the Reds golden Boot, and 1 behind Enticotts squad lead! (I’m naming my next kid after the winner!)
2 Red cards – including bananas captain
1 assault on the Ref – A kick in the shins delivered by said bananas captain
1 death threat – “fine, send me off, but I’m following you home and killing your family” (actual quote taken from the refs report on the game)
3 shots that hit the crossbar/post, 2 penalty worthy tackles (Gonzo), 1 deliberate handball in the box (Gonzo), 1 deliberate handball outside the box (Bananas keeper)
70 Minutes – a shorten 1st half and an abbreviated 2nd half when ref stopped game.
I’ve spoken to the league today and we’ve got the 3 points that takes us off the bottom of the league. It looks as though Bananas FC have taken a big step towards being kicked out of Division 2 and he Romanian Veterans get sent to pasture. A great showing back at CPR HQ where celebrations continued. Sashimi anyone?

In what will be remembered as the game against Dads Army, the reserves continued their march towards a possible league challenge. The mighty Banatul had fielded their strongest 11 (average age of 67) and all looked good as the ’silver foxes’ took to the pitch. Their team included their Romanian captain who made his debut for his country in the 1st World Cup (1930) in Uruguay. Gheorghe Hagi’s dad and family made this game a little bizarre, to put it mildly, as the 2nd half descended into farce when Ilie Dumitrescu’s grandfather asked for time-out on the far corner. Highlights included a sensational 88 yard goal from Sewards, the ghost ‘keeper’ call, a referee in the stands, Scott ‘Ronaldo’s old uncle’ Brindly running up and down the right wing and a hatrick from Rich (now leading the golden boot race). Six goals in total and no opposition casualties recorded. Bring on Japan.
