Manhattan Celtic 1 – 1 CPR Reds
This game, while rendered meaningless for the relegation battle, was very competitive and we were unlucky not to have won. More to come.

1ST TEAM NEWS
I am happy to confirm we will not, i repeat not, be relegated this year, no matter what the result on Sunday! But nonetheless, lets make sunday a win and build for the campaign next year and climb above Gaels. Congrats to all on a hard fought 07′ and great squad effort.
8 games played in 07′ – 4 wins & 1 draw – 13 points

RESERVE TEAM NEWS
While the reserves almost made a run for the title, 07 was all about the squad and we showed the strength of combining efforts and sharing resources across the teams.

Opponents: KOHA, Sunday June 24th
Venue: Verazzono Sports Complex
Time: 11am Reds Reserves, 1pm Reds
CPR Reserves 1 – 4 KOHA
With the priority given to the 1st team and KOHA going for the reserves title, this was always going to be a tough game. We were forced to start and finish the game without a natural midfielders as Rodrigo, Charlie, Steve and Scott tried to keep up with their strong midfield. The highlight of the game a flying volley from Koha’s number 8 following a corner that somehow managed to misjudge!
Goals – Rodrigo
CPR 0 – 0 Koha
This was another tough game in the sun and we had many chances to win the game (too many to mention) once again. Our passing between midfield and forwards wasn’t as strong this week and our defensive back four of Willie, Jan, Toks and Marko all deserved MOTM – brilliant stuff. After not taking our chances for 80 minutes we threw caution to the wind and pushed foward and had more chances to win. A well fought draw that felt like a loss.
MOTM – Jan, Tokes, Willie, Marko

Opponents: NIFA, Sunday June 17th
Venue: Verazzono Sports Complex (see below)
Time: 12pm Reds Reserves, 2pm Reds
Results
NIFA 3 – 1 CPR Reserves
This was a hard fought game played in seering 94 degree heat and included a 7 foot norweign striker! Due to some last minute cancellations (Steve, Gonzo and Hakan) the team started with 10 players and played a strong 1st half in difficult conditions. The opposition handled the heat well and went ahead after some keeper errors in the 2nd half. Brendan scored after some good work from Rich and ilija but the game drifted into a loss as NIFA finished the stronger of the 2 sides.
Goals – Brendan
NIFA 4 – 5 CPR
This was a hard fought battle that included a hatrick from Ilija and 2 late goals from Rich. The Guzijan brothers turned up late and players like Jan, Ferd, Scott and Charlie played an important role by playing most of this game as well! Ilija had a brilliant game and scored a screamer for the 3rd with his proud parents watching (fathers day!). The heat almost was our undoing but Rich showed his class with some fine finishing proving the decider between the teams.
Goals: Ilijax3, Rich x2
